Meet Pixie
Pixie is a domestic short haired, spayed female gray tabby with an estimated date of birth of August 2010. Pixie suffered from eosinophilic granuloma complex (EGC, a suspected autoimmune inflammatory skin condition) for the first 9 years of her life that was managed with depo-medrol injections or the oral steroids prednisolone or dexamethasone. Pixie no longer requires these medications as she no longer suffers from red, itchy, inflamed skin. Pixie, however, has developed chronic kidney disease (CKD) and is currently stable in stage 2 without a prescription kidney friendly diet, subcutaneous fluids administration, or any medications. Cats progress through CKD at different rates, and CKD is a chronic, progressive illness that requires frequent medical monitoring. Pixie is not an easy cat to medicate or take to vet appointments because of her frequent and unpleasant vet visits in her early years to treat her EGC.
Spayed; current on vaccinations; litter box trained; and negative for feline leukemia virus and feline immunodeficiency virus. Pixie is very cat selective and tends to get bullied by the more dominant cats. Pixie is scared of dogs and children.
Adoption fee is $86.
