PIPER??He's a mystery boy, but not for the reasons you may think. I look at him and ask, "Where did you come from, lovely boy? Before Madison Avenue, where were you?" Love is a sanctuary. It's where we are protected because we are home. "Have you ever known that, sweet boy?" Piper was brought in as a stray over a year ago. He is about five years old now, so that means nearly a quarter of his life has been spent at the shelter. After being unwanted his whole life or once a pet and then abandoned, he looks upon the ever-changing adoption room with wonder as to why nobody wants him. Piper has changed a lot since his arrival. He has gained confidence in himself and trust in others. Once fearful, he now calls the tune like any pied piper. But some things will always be the same regardless of time passed. As you can see, Piper is a big handsome boy! His impressively long whiskers and round yellow-green eyes are almost like a cartoon! He's too good looking for reality. Playtime is essential to Piper! He also loves treats and a cozy nap. The definition of balanced cat energy, the hardships of shelter life have not erased that from him. Piper likes to be pet and will rub his sweet face all over in excitement. He likes baby talk like our other long time resident Pepper. The attention must make them feel good after all this time. It's important to be in tune with Piper's feelings. He is an expressive boy with so much soul in his eyes. Right now, his soul is searching. Looking to be understood and loved. He's missing out on the life he deserves as he waits in his cage. He's missing a home. He can't see from a window the murmuration of starlings that are spelling out his name because he's just so special. But in that moment, where he can watch the birds in the window with you, and you rub his head and call him by his name, he will know that he is home.
