Piper was a stray who went unclaimed at the AC unit in Waterloo, Iowa. When no one came to claim her after her hold time was up, WPR took her in. Piper is up to date on shots, tested FeLV / FIV negative, and spayed. She is living in a foster home.

Piper is about 8 years old as of August 2020. She started off shy and scared but with time and TLC, she has warmed up to her foster family. She loves to be petted.

7/2/14 UPDATE: Piper is about 2 years old now. Piper is very sweet. Loves to be petted once she gets to know you. She will need a home that is willing to give her time to adjust. Sometimes sudden noises still scare her and she will run and hide. She does well with every foster cat she has ever met. She also once she knows you will lay on her side so you will pet her. She is very quiet, she hardly know she is around. Would be easy for her to fit into any home. Piper is prone to eye issues. They will weep and water here and there. She is on meds to clear them up on and off.

1/23/19 UPDATE: Piper is about 6-1/2-years old now. Piper is a sweetheart. She still is quite shy and not very outgoing. Sudden noises scare her and she will run and hide. She will come back out once she knows all is ok. She does not like to be held or picked up, it makes her uncomfortable. But she loves to be petted. She will roll on her side so you can stroke her all over. Her favorite place to be petted is her face and her head. She does well with my older cat loving daughters, but she would be best in a home without small children. Not that she would hurt them or anything, but their noise, busyness, and wanting to pick her up would be too much for her. Our favorite thing about Piper is when she does meow, it is a quiet little squeaky noise, so cute. If introduced properly, she still does well with other cats. If you adopt Piper, she will need to start off in one room alone. She will hide, and in time she will come out and start to bond with you. Letting her loose in your whole house would overwhelm her, you have to be willing to start her off slow. Her eyes still have issues now and then. But we found a powered med from the vet that you sprinkle onto her food. It has helped a lot! We will send this med along with her new home, and encourage you to keep her on it every day. It isn't very expensive and it lasts for many months. If you are a true cat person and understand shy cats, Piper would be a perfect cat for you.

Will someone please adopt Piper and give her a forever home?
Piper's adoption fee is $95.00.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $200 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
