Philomena Tuxedo New York, NY

Philomena is a petite, sweet, and gentle friend. She's quite good with kids, and will let you and your children hold her and carry her around. She's also a food thief, (especially carbs).

We saw pregnant Philomena on a social media post in mid-December 2020, sitting in a cage in an outdoor kill shelter in Florida, looking uncomfortable and scared. She was set to be euthanized within days due to lack of interest and space. We hired a transporter to bring her up to NYC, where a nice family fostered her while she gave birth on December 28th to five beautiful babies.

She raised her babies and now it's time for her to move on to the next step in life--a home of her own. She doesn't seem to like other cats too much--this could have been due to the stress of raising newborns at the time. But she does love her children and even as they are getting huge, still allows them to nurse off of her and spends time with them. We recommend that she either go to a home with no other pets and just humans, or with her handsome, panther-like son Theo..

She is approximately a year old and is in good health. We will be getting her spayed as soon as her milk dries up (hopefully any day now, as her babies are getting adopted and no longer stimulating her).

After ending up pregnant, thrown out in the streets in unbearably hot weather, being brought to a kill shelter, traveling for nearly 30 hours in a van to NYC, giving birth for the first time, and raising her babies...she has been through so much in such a short amount of time, and is ever-resilient and still so loving and calm.
