Meet Petey

PeeWee is a neutered male Himalayan who was brought into a MD shelter with two other cats when their owner, as she stated, could no longer care for them. It is unclear whether they were used for breeding or not, as they were not neutered. He basks in having plenty of foot room plus a bed to sleep under, but (as you can see) most of all he sponges up attention and TLS.. PeeWee's coat has a hint of silver coloring to it, and he is approx 8 years young. His face is between doll-shape and peke-shaped, he has a tail that curves forward toward his head in a cute little bow, he is over-the-top friendly and an incredible lover boy. As visible in one of the pictures, he will sit up as tall as he can when petted on the head, and if you stop petting him too soon for his taste, he will gently reach out with his front paws and remind you to keep on going by tapping you on your arm :-). The moment you sit down, he is on your lap in a flash and happy to snuggle for long periods of time! After an initial period of getting used to his new environs and people, he will be a 120% lap cat. == Upon coming to our rescue, this cat had to get shaved due to severe matting. We had the kitty vetted (distemper vaccines, rabies vaccine, exam, FIV/FeLV test to confirm nonexistence of feline aids and feline leukemia infection), spayed/neutered, and given an ID microchip to assist in finding home should this kitty ever accidentally get out the house. == Please note that Himalayan and Persian cats are as pretty as they are labor-intensive. These cats require daily grooming, including combing of the entire body and gentle wiping of the eyes. Many of these cats were discarded by previous owners due to the amount of care they need... so please, please consider carefully whether you will make this daily routine part of your life for the rest of this cat's life... or whether a domestic shorthair or mediumhair kitty might be a better match for you and your family. Persians and Himalayans are a great companion for those who love to touch and pet and scratch ears and manually share affection... but not for people easily distracted when the newness of the pet wears off. == If you are serious about meeting and adopting him and about caring for him with unwavering devotion for the next 10 years, please find and complete an Adoption Application here: http://www.va-persianrescue.org/adoption
