Meet Pete

Pete would love to find a home for him and his bonded brother Jarrod!

Pete and Jerrod have come a long way in their foster home! However, they will still need a lot of patience and love from their forever home to learn that humans aren't scary. When they were first rescued from a hoarder situation, they hid whenever humans were around and hissed and batted when anyone tried to pet them. They probably haven't had much human contact in their lives, but they really love each other and will groom, snuggle with, and "talk" to each other for hours at a time. They also get along with other cats as long as those cats are friendly. They love playing and exploring their room in their foster home when humans aren't around (their foster parents can see this on a home security camera in the room) and they are getting a lot braver about moving around the room even when humans are in it. They also have allowed themselves to be pet a few times, although they often still hiss, bat, or even scratch at people when contact is attempted, but please understand this is just because they are scared. They are still learning human contact is not a threat, but they are so sweet and loving with each other and with enough time and patience they can hopefully learn to be the same way for their forever family.

Pete is available from his loving foster home for adoption. Please email foster@humanepinellas.org or call 727-797-7722 ext.910 to schedule a meet and greet!

We are open to the public on a first come, first serve basis and are limiting our capacity to 50% in order to keep both our staff and community safe during this pandemic. HSP continues to provide an essential service to the community by intaking pets in need and finding adoptive homes. In order to continue operations, we must reduce the potential spread of the virus by taking extra precautions. We ask that all visitors entering HSP facilities wear appropriate face or mask coverings while maintaining at least a 6 foot social distance.

For further information please visit our website at www.humanesocietyofpinellas.org which is live and if an animal is still posted, he/she is still available. It is best to call 727-797-7722 first if you are coming to see a particular animal since there may be an adoption hold which is not reflected on the website. We may have more animals for adoption than currently posted on Petfinder since our website is live.
