Meet Pepper
This beautiful girl is all about cuteness and a kind, gentle, young and warm soul.
Black Pepper is well-named for having a beautiful black, shiny coat that this sweet girl likes to maintain with constant, regular grooming. However, she is not spicy at all! Pepper is actually a bit shy before she gets to know you; but with lots of attention and love, she’ll learn to overcome her fears. It took some patience and time, but Pepper gained confidence with her foster family’s help. She now loves pets and likes to sit by your side to enjoy your company, either on the couch or on the floor when you play with her. When relaxed and looking for affection, she will flop over for pets and belly rubs. Pepper is food motivated, which offers a fantastic opportunity to bond with her! Treats are the perfect way to Pepper’s heart, both crunchies and pastes (Churus).
The first 5 years of Pepper’s life were spent in appalling conditions and neglect, being offered only the bare necessities of life. Pepper will need good nutrition to sustain her current good health. She loves a cozy spot, preferable a comfy bed by the sunny window, where she can watch nature unfold. And because she loves watching birds, squirrels while sitting by the window, CatTV is just the perfect substitute when live TV is not available. Pepper loves to be brushed, she knows that good brushings help her maintain her beautiful coat and will prevent her hair from getting matted.
Prior to being rescued by AVA, Pepper was left with a deformed ear as a result of an ear ailment for which she did not receive medical attention. Her foster mom believes that her hearing may have been affected as well, as Pepper does not seem to notice subtle noises. Pepper was also diagnosed with a moderate heart murmur, which does not require medication at this point, just monitoring and regular vet checkups. It also does not affect her quality of life nor her activity level; in fact, Pepper is quite playful and more active than most kitties of her age. Wand toys are her favourite, but she responds to all kinds of mental and visual stimulation. This also offers the opportunity to establish a bond with her.
The ideal home for Pepper would be a quiet one, perhaps with older kids or just adults, where Pepper can enjoy a calm, loving and supportive environment. Pepper loves other cats from the first moment she meets them, therefore, she must go to a home with another friendly cat who can play and bond with her. Pepper deserves a soft landing after all that she had gone through. Now that's all behind her, she can look forward to being pampered, appreciated, and very much loved.
