Meet Pepper
This beautiful girl is all about cuteness and a kind, warm soul. Black Pepper is well-named for having a beautiful coat that she likes to maintain with constant, regular grooming. However, she is not spicy at all! Pepper is actually a bit shy before she gets to know you, and her sister Salt knows how to support and encourage her to overcome her fears. It took some patience and time, but Pepper grew and gained confidence with her foster family’s help. She now loves pets and likes to sit by your side to enjoy your company. Pepper is food motivated, which offers a fantastic opportunity to bond with her! Treats are the perfect way to Pepper’s hearts. The first 5 years of their lives were spent in appalling conditions and neglect, and the girls need continued good nutrition to sustain their current good health. Pepper loves a cozy spot, preferable a comfy bed by the sunny window, where she can watch nature unfold together with her sister Salt.
Prior to being rescued by AVA, Pepper was left with a deformed ear as a result of an ear ailment for which she did not receive medical attention. Her foster mom believes that her hearing may be affected as well, as Pepper does not seem to notice subtle noises. She watches Salt’s reactions and body language to detect what is happening, and relies on Salt for guidance. Pepper was also diagnosed with a moderate heart murmur, which does not require medication at this point, just monitoring and regular vet checkups. It also does not affect her quality of life nor her activity level, in fact, Pepper is quite playful and more active than Salt. Wand toys are her favourite, but she responds to all kinds of mental and visual stimulation. This also offers the opportunity to establish a bond with her.
The ideal home for Pepper would be a quiet one, perhaps with older kids or just adults, where Pepper can enjoy a calm, loving and supportive environment. Ideally Pepper and Salt should be adopted together, but if not, Pepper will definitely need to go home to a friendly cat who can play and bond with her. Pepper deserves a soft landing after all that she had gone through. Now that’s all behind her, she can look forward to being pampered, appreciated, and very much loved.
Would you like to make Pepper, and maybe Salty too, a part of your family? Please complete our online application found at: avacats.org/adopt/adoption-form.
Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.
Standard adoption fees are $200 for each adult cat 1 year or older. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.
