Meet Penny
Penny is a spunky little 10-month-old female cat with a kind heart and loving soul. She is highly interactive and loves playtime with her fishing rod toy or chasing after ones you throw (bringing them back to you is a concept she doesn’t quite understand…yet). She enjoys “hunting” her toys from the various places she hides them, but sometimes can’t reach where she’s put them and will require your assistance in retrieving them (i.e. under the couch).
While Penny is highly interactive with her play time, she does take some time to warm up to new humans. She tends to run and hide until she knows it’s “safe”. Young children may be too much for Penny, as she prefers to discover the world on her own terms instead of being sought out. Penny would thrive in a lower-energy, consistent, relaxed environment, where she could be the center of attention (or at least think she was) receiving affection and interactive playtime.
Speaking of affection… petting is new to Penny. She will vocally seek attention from you but isn’t so sure yet about being picked up to be pet. She prefers standing on her own two feet and “bucking” as you pet her, but will tolerate being cradled like a baby and pet on her chin/cheeks.
Penny likes to be wherever you are. If you’re sleeping, she’s more than happy to cuddle up at your feet to sleep with you. If you’re working, she’ll be watching intently or sleeping on the laptop or somewhere close by. She wants to be a part of all that you do either watching or interacting. She is very curious.
Penny has never been introduced to a dog, so it is unknown how she would react. When she was a kitten living on the streets alone, she was attacked by another cat. Penny sustained some injuries as a result but has since fully healed. Part of Penny’s recovery involved having a front canine tooth removed. This has had no impact on her day-to-day living, aside from turning her smile into a smirk. The only lasting impact from the attack is that she views other cats as a threat. Accordingly, Penny will probably need to be an “only child”.
There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate.
Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.
All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption.
