Meet Penny! She is a mature lady who is looking for a quiet and calm forever home to call her own. Always sophisticated and dignified, she has wonderful house manners and is not one for getting into trouble of any kind. Also in true ladylike fashion, Penny expects a proper courtship before she can trust people and share her huge heart with them. She takes things slow and considers attempts at moving too fast to be quite rude. She needs patience and personal space to warm up to new people. But once she falls, she falls hard. After three days of being ‘wooed’ with food, safe hiding places, and quick pets at her request to test the waters, Penny was comfortable enough to fully reveal her affectionate and playful side to her foster mom. Once trust was earned, Penny did a 180 and went from being a shy scaredy-cat to a chatty and doting love bug just soaking up attention.

One of the most important things when winning Penny over is respecting her boundaries. She adores being loved on, and she will seek out cuddles and chin scratches on her own terms. She enjoys her “me-time” as well though, and when she’s in the mood for peace she is a master at hide-and-go-seek. Her other likes: exploring, pets, ribbon toys, bird watching and tranquility in the home. Her dislikes include: loud noises and startling commotion. Although she is initially suspicious of canines, Penny has become very content coexisting with her dog foster sister. For Penny, the key to a good interspecies friendship is a cat-savvy dog who is respectful and mellow. The same guidelines would likely apply to children as well. As for other cats, she gets along with them really well.
