Peanut's Story

Peanut was found in a rainstorm with her mother and other sibling kittens. A kind woman brought them in and contacted the rescue to help. Peanut was very sick and shortly after being in care, developed a severe ear infection, which resulted in permanent damage. This makes her tilt her head and Peanut sometimes wobbles when she walks. She is no longer in pain, but the effects of the infection will remain with her throughout her life. For this reason, we list Peanut as having special needs and she will need a patient adopter. Peanut runs, jumps and climbs just like other cats, but does wobble and lose her balance at times, but she has never gotten hurt during play and has had no further issues with her ears! She is very self-sufficient and does navigate her environment well. She LOVES to play with toys and climb up onto the cat tree! She requires daily brushing and likes to be brushed. We call Peanut the ambassador, because she loves to act like a mother to the new cats/kittens coming into the foster home where she is cared for. At times, Peanut can swat, but this is typically more out of playfulness than anger or aggression. Her foster has learned her personality and understands Peanut's actions and her adopter will need to do the same. For this reason, a home with young children would not be ideal. Peanut would be best suited in a home with one or two other cats/young kittens who she could enjoy playing with and older respectful children or adults only. <br/>Peanut is current on vaccinations and has tested NEGATIVE for FeLV/FIV. She has received consistent flea treatments and deworming according to vet recommendations/protocols. Peanut also has a microchip that can be registered and maintained for free. Her adoption fee has been reduced so that she can finally find her forever family. Her adoption fee will be donated to our local humane society to sponsor more spay and neuters, in Peanut's honor!!

Cats In Knead's Adoption Policy
*Please note-the location listed (Karns City) is our mailing address (required by PetFinder)...it is NOT the location of where the cat/kitten is fostered. Most of our cats/kittens are fostered in the Butler County area. Procedures: Potential adopters contact our organization via email or through social media messages. We are currently only operating a Facebook page at this time, until we can gain more volunteers who can help us expand our social media and website platform. An adoption application is sent to the interested adopter via email (Google link). Once the application is received back to Cats In Knead, it is reviewed by our Foster Coordinator. References are called, addresses are confirmed and the vet reference listed is contacted. If any of the responses do not align with our beliefs regarding adoption, or if false information is given, the application will be denied. If everything looks good on the application, the Foster Coordinator contacts the applicant and follows up with some simple questions, then coordinates a meet and greet with the foster and the potential adopter. After the meet and greet (which only occurs at the foster home), the potential adopter contacts the foster coordinator with their input regarding the visit. We reserve the right to conduct a home visit with the potential adopter at any time before, during or after the adoption process. If adopters are approved, they will also be required to review and sign a contract, which will be maintained by Cats In Knead.
