Meet Peach
These two were kept in a filthy makeshift cage with another cat, Jake (he has been adopted). The girls were cuddled up on a dirty bed both days we visited before rescuing them and now we often find them snuggled up on our guest room bed. We would love for them to find a home together, but they will be fine on their own.
Peach is very sweet and affection seeking. She will need a few days to open up when she gets to her new home, but once she is comfortable she is a total love bug. She loves to head butt and purrs up a storm if you are around. She is making up for not getting hardly any love the first 9 years of her life! She often gets on the bed and snuggles with us.
She's done very well with the other cats in her foster home and would likely do fine in a forever home with another cat friend for company.
.
While the girls were imprisoned, they had no enrichment or vet care besides being spayed around 3 months old. Poor Peach was not able to eat all day like her obese friend Amelia because she had horrible rotting teeth. In fact we really aren't sure how Peach was managing to eat at all given how far rotted and painful the few teeth she had left were. She had a dental the day after we saved her to get those rotting teeth out and eats just fine now with the few remaining teeth she has.
Watching Peach come out of her shell while we’ve been fostering her has been a joy and we really want her to find a home where she can receive all the love she wants. Please consider opening your home up to this deserving senior girl.
Her adoption fee is $200 and she is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, FeLV/FIV negative and on flea preventative.
We are visiting family for Christmas in Wayzata and would love to bring her up north to a forever home. We have a flight booked for December 22, but if we have more than 2 cats coming up we will end up driving, so we may get there a day or two earlier!
Typically when we bring cats up north we do a facetime (or zoom, skype etc) meet and greet prior to the adoption day so you can see the cat's personality and ask any questions etc! To set that up, please fill out an application-

If your application is approved, we will reach out to schedule the video call! Please note that you only need to submit one application if you're interested in multiple cats.

When you adopt a cat from HPPL, you help us save more of the immense amount of stray, neglected and unwanted animals suffering around Houston TX. Houston has an extreme pet overpopulation problem- there are strays all over the city struggling to survive. Sometimes it feels like a 3rd world country, loose dogs, mangey cats and starving puppies. Some days the Houston municipal pound takes in 300+ animals. A DAY!
HPPL is a no kill, foster based rescue, meaning that we do not have a physical shelter to house animals in and we rely on foster families to keep animals until they get adopted. With a limited number of foster families and the number of strays increasing from an already intense kitten season, adopting just one cat can mean making room for another cat in desperate need.
In addition to fostering, our rescue has a large emphasis on TNR (trap neuter return). Although it often feels like a tiny drop in a bucket, TNRing stops the cycle of suffering and is crucial in the fight against the animal overpopulation that Houston is facing.
