Meet Osprey

Riddle me this: What is slender with long, narrow hips, incredibly fast and named after a species of hawk? A black flash across the room, zigzagging with aplomb - it's a wily little black cat with well- mastered moves named Osprey.

So extraordinarily fleet of foot is this boy, it first seemed we had a wild bird of prey on our hands. Was this really a feline? At play, his sneak attacks on other cats reminded us of the hawk from which he gets his name. And "skittish" didn't begin to describe Osprey when it came to meeting people. He gave staff and volunteers alike a real run for their money when it came to completing examinations, lab work or any kind of social interaction. Osprey seemed too wild to be tamed.

Then, something changed. Little by slowly, Osprey began to understand we weren't here to hurt him. Getting to know him on his terms, at his pace was okay with us. Even the most domesticated cat is allowed to have his boundaries at Tabby's Place, and our little wild Osprey was certainly entitled to his. We let him set the tone of meet-and-greets, and voila! Osprey is slowly warming up and learning it's okay to accept the occasional pat on the head, handheld treat or even a gentle pet. Now, he will even butt his head against your hand to request some chin scratches.

At Tabby's Place, there's a lot of stimulation for a cat like Osprey, who is really looking for a place of safety and security to call his own. Can you provide the calm, quiet forever home this boy needs to be in his truly happy place? Fill out an online adoption application today!
