Meet Oscar & Grouch (Bonded Pair)

Oscar (female) and Grouch (male) are 5-month old siblings looking for a loving and patient home. They have distinct personalities that will leave you entertained and eager for new quirks to emerge. Oscar is quick for purrs and snuggles and is ever-curious, while her brother, Grouch, will sit back and see how Oscar fares before moving in to flop and roll over in front of you.

Oscar's foster family refers to her as “FOMO Kitty.” Whatever you’re doing, she MUST be involved. Are you petting her brother? She’s right in there. Did you get a bowl of popcorn? That’s her favorite! Did you have some papers you were looking at? She’s got your pen. Oscar is a loving, curious, and active little joy whose tail pops straight up when she's excited to see you. She loves burrowing under the covers or the blanket you're snuggling under while watching movies, and she’ll steal your popcorn in a heartbeat. She will let you know exactly when she wants to be pet (always) and will plop down next to you with a big purr. She is much more adventurous than her brother and is the first to explore things or greet people. She’s also "the scout" and chirps to let her brother know that the coast is clear.

Grouch is an independent thinker who prefers to decide for himself when it’s time for pets and snuggles. When he decides the time is right, he is in 100% with purrs and rubs in abundance. In lieu of pets, he sometimes prefers a sniff of your index finger. Think of it like a fist bump when he’s not in the mood for a full-on hug. He likes rolling around on the floor like a dog and scooting under furniture to sneak up on or get away from his sister. Both Oscar and Grouch’s favorite pastime is wrestling and chasing each other all over the house.

Both Oscar and her brother Grouch love to bounce around the room and wrestle. They will make toys out of anything they can bat around and are always up to chase just about anything; string, a laser... they found a small pebble the other day and it was like Christmas had come early! They are great at only scratching on their scratching post too. One of the funniest pastimes these two have created involves a piece of yarn that Grouch will pick up and run around the house while Oscar chases. Who needs TV with this kind of entertainment?!

Oscar tends to wake up early and want to hop in bed for some before sunrise snuggles. She will try for pets but will eventually fall asleep between her foster parents. Grouch will follow at a distance and take up his spot at the foot of the bed. When the humans get up, the kittens will zoom around the room for a while until breakfast when they loudly proclaim how starving they are. After that it's more play until nap time... which is most of the day. You can find their napping spots by the frequent, audible kitty snores. Evening is a similar routine of food, play, and snuggles on the couch.

This bonded pair lives with their foster family (two adults and a teenager). They have not been around dogs or small children but have acclimated well to their teenage friend. Ideally, Oscar and Grouch will find a loving and patient home with people who have the time and caring to let them ease into their new environment—small children would probably be a bit too much for them. They are still wary of loud noises or fast movements but recover quickly. The loud back door opening often sends them into another room, but they’re quick to come out when they hear it’s just their foster family. They spent the first week and a half in foster care under a couch—patience, going at their speed, and learning what they’re comfortable with was key to allowing them to come out of their shells. They have since shown their foster family what fun, playful, and loving kitties they can be.

Oscar and Grouch are scheduled to receive their rabies vaccination on 3/15/23 and will be ready to go to their forever home after that!
