Orion is from Waterloo, Iowa. He is now up to date on shots and tested negative for FeLV / FIV. He is also neutered now. He is living in a foster home.
Orion... Black and White Domestic Shorthair neutered male; approx. 4 years old as of October 2018.
Orion is a very friendly, sweet and sensitive boy. Unfortunately, he was in a home where he was bullied by another cat for the first part of his life. When he came into his foster home in May of 2017, he was very scared, traumatized and wary of other cats. He has improved so much since coming into his foster home. He loves to come sit by you and cuddle and get petted only around the ears. He has a very loving and giving personality. He needs to be adopted into a home that is calm and quiet. If he is adopted into a home with other cats, they need to be calm and sensitive. He would need proper and slow introduction with the other animals in the home. Orion would also be ok with older kind children.
Orion is going to be shy and scared at first in a new home around new people and animals. He is going to need plenty of time to warm up to his new surroundings. He will need to be placed in a small room all by himself and integrated over a period of weeks. It is very important that you have enough space for all your animals in a home that includes Orion because he does sometimes need to decompress in his own space away from people and the other animals. It is also very important that you understand his sensitivity and be patient with him. In the home he was rescued from he felt ignored and that his needs and feelings didn’t matter. If you give him the chance to adjust to your home, he is the most loving cat. He loves to seek out his foster mom for loving and petting. He is very sweet and loving in our one-on-one interactions
Orion's adoption fee is $95.00. He was neutered, tested neg. for FeLK/FIV, and UTD on all vaccinations. He also got his teeth cleaned in the Spring of 2017.
WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com
All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $200 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
