Olive is a beautiful medium-haired black cat with a unique striped tail. She is a bit shy at first, but once you pick her up, she melts into you and purrs up a storm. She loves to play with the other foster cats in her home and is very fond of catnip mice.At first glance, it is obvious that Olive "wobbles" a bit when she walks and can sometimes appear a bit clumsy. That's because she has a birth defect called Cerebellum Hyperplasia or CH which means that that part of her brain responsible for balance and coordination did not fully develop before she was born. In her case, the deficit is minor, will never get better or worse, and she is quite capable of living as any other cat with a few precautions on her owners' part.Olive can climb carpeted stairs (although awkwardly), but she would be safest living in a one-floor home. And if she is left home alone for several hours or more, she would be best left in one room where she is much less likely to fall and get injured. CH sounds scary, but cats with the condition don't realize they are at risk for falls and can often overextend themselves. On the plus side, CH cats are the most loving, gentle, and sweet cats on earth!Olive's foster mother can answer all your questions and provide support ongoing as needed. Olive's brother who is more affected by CH was adopted through GRASP and his owners are willing to share insights with Olive's adopters. (They absolutely adore him!)
