Meet October

Grouch Seeks Curmudgeon

Looking for that special grump to make your day complete? Maybe October's just who you need!

October's a special needs kitty with a lot of love to give. Provided her needs are met. And she has needs.

Here's her list:
1. No other animals and no plans to get other animals. She'd prefer you had no thoughts of other animals.
2. No young children. They're potentially tasty.
3. A drive to brush her. Until she's done.
4. A burning desire to pet her. Until she's done.
5. Unabashed excitement to give October her medications twice a day.
6. While she's mastered stairs, they are a lot of work. A one story home would be ideal. (But she says having stairs isn't a deal breaker.)
7. A primal need to give her treats.

She was found in October 2021 with a badly healed broken back leg. Her leg ran cross-wise under her body forcing her to pull herself along with her front legs. ARFP took her in and immediately had the leg amputated. There was no salvaging it.

She spent the next few months recuperating in a foster home, getting used to having all her needs met. But then she started to get grumpy. Back to the vet she went and they discovered she had a hyperactive thyroid. Medications brought that back under control, but she'll need them for the rest of her life. She also takes meds to manage the pain from the lost limb.

She might sound like she's a lot of work she's actually a sweet cat. When you hear her purr or see her playing, it makes it all worth it.

Trust us -- if her foster parents didn't already have cats (failing October's first demand), they'd keep her themselves.

The vet estimates that she's 9 years old so it's easy to understand that she's a little set in her ways. October knows what she wants and uses her attitude to get it. She just needs a home with a cat savvy person or persons who can pick up on her signs when she's done being petted or brushed.

Like all children of a certain age, October has her very own youtube playlist. You can see exactly how personable she is!
