Meet Obi (in foster)

Obi
Did you know that in Nigeria, little boys and girls are named Obi because it means "heart" or "one who is at peace"? I like that name, even though I have not always felt at peace. After living with my owner all my life, he surrendered me to the HSHC. At some point, he had all four of my paws declawed, which causes me pain every day. Over the years, I spent most of my time in the basement. Events and people would change. The cat I lived with passed away, and the family had a new baby. I discovered that when the kids were awake, I could hide from them to avoid contact. When they went to bed, I could come out to spend time with my adults. I am an excellent cuddler and will cuddle with grown-ups as much as possible. When the interviewer lady (IL) visited me, I crawled into her lap as soon as she opened my door. I let her pet me all over and even settled myself on her shoulder, purring all the while. It was the perfect way to spend my afternoon. I am now a 9-year-old male, and I hope that someone will fall in love with my sweet personality. The HSHC feels strongly that I need to be given a small space of my own with everything I need to live, where I can go to relax and slowly adjust to a new home and new people. The staff will provide you with information and tips to help me settle in successfully. I would like to give you my "Obi" to show you how much I love you. 9-29-25
