Meet MYKA

FORT KENT, Maine - PAWS Animal Welfare Shelter presents MYKA!

Meet Myka – a very calm and kind-hearted black cat with yellow-green eyes that are full of wisdom. Since being at PAWS, he makes more and more progress in becoming less timid and has started greatly enjoying getting petted. In fact, if you give him time to get comfortable with you, he will softly make a chirping noise to let you he'd like some love... and then if you stop petting him, he takes his paw and will rest it on your wrist like when a dog gives a "handshake" to request a bit more affection. To see him make this progress is really amazing, and we are proud of him. This refined gentleman is grateful to PAWS for recently helping him get the dentistry work he so desperately needed to greatly improve his quality of life. He has recovered very well, and it is easy to see how much more comfortable and content he is now that he is not in physical pain. Myka has been neutered, and his vaccinations are all up-to-date. He is an older cat, though likely not quite a "senior" just yet. He would love to be a part of a quiet, loving household where he could enjoy the good things in life and gentle human companionship. He is one of the most gentle cats. A person or couple who have a routine and spend a lot of time at home would be great for him. Possibly his most favorite thing in the world is to be softly brushed. :) Myka's hobbies include: writing his autobiography, studying astronomy, and learning to play the banjo.

If you are interested in seeing him, please visit Valley Cat Haven during open hours on Sat. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. or call Jean at 207-543-7348 for an appointment.

PAWS is a nonprofit organization that rescues abandoned cats in the St. John Valley. Organization members believe most pets can be socialized and prefer not to release them back outdoors, as winters are harsh in Northern Maine. PAWS operates as a no-kill shelter. Their mission is to get owners to spay and/or neuter their animals to help cut down on the population and give all animals a better chance at a quality life. PAWS Animal Welfare, Inc. spays, neuters and vaccinates mature animals before they are placed out for adoption.
