Meet Mr. T - No Longer Accepting Applications

Mr. T is a big boy, about 13 pounds, mostly white with a few orange spots and short hair. He is blind and deaf. This adorable, cuddly boy is looking for his forever home with people who can truly appreciate how amazing he is!

Watching this fellow figure out where doors are, and go up and down stairs (two-story house) has been fascinating. He climbs up on the cat tree to the top perch and ‘reaches’ a paw or two down to decide which side is the better way to get down. He particularly enjoys being on the table while you eat breakfast, and parks himself on the paper so you can’t read it easily.

He likes catnip and larger, stuffed catnip toys are a favorite. He will capture it and ‘bite’ it. If he finds other toys that are big enough for him to grab and then step on, he likes those too. He has his own bedroom for nighttime and eats regular meals, twice a day.

Mr. T enjoys socializing with the dogs who visit him, as long as they are used to cats and won’t startle him or pick on him. He will come to find his foster person when he wants lap time; Mr. T really enjoys being petted and brushed.

There is a screened porch he enjoys being out on with someone to keep him company. He roams from one end to the other and sits on the lower ledge where the screens rest. He uses his nose (sense of smell) to determine where you are and loves smelling the outside air, trees, flowers, etc. while he relaxes on the screened porch with you.

Sometimes he decides he is ‘bored’ and he has a very loud voice to call you to come and give him some attention! Mr. T knows who he is and likes to speak his mind.

Mr. T. thrives with a routine. Since he can’t hear/see his day go by, it helps him know what to expect. After he has breakfast, he comes to the main floor (walks downstairs himself) and wanders around—checks out a chair in the dining room, and wanders here and there on the four-season porch which is where his cat tree is. He’s up and down, sometimes gets on the table when I have breakfast (and lays on the newspaper so I can’t read it). He gets some pats off and on and loves being brushed. Later in the day, he might want some lap time.

Mr. T. is pretty chill most of the day and early afternoon, but we go out to the screened porch in the afternoon for an hour or more. Then he’s in the house until dinner time, and then up to his room for dinner and overnight.

This gorgeous big boy would thrive in a loving, caring, gentle home with people who are willing to learn about setting up a home for a blind and deaf cat and to adapt to his way of navigating the world. There are many excellent resources available to help potential adopters get started. Mr. T has so much love to give to the right family. If you’re ready to bring this loving, cozy boy into your home and your heart, please consider adopting Mr. T.
