Meet Mousa

Mousa is a big, affectionate 9-year-old lady looking for her forever home!

Mousa is a lovable, friendly, and calm adult cat who can't get enough head scratches, pets, and forehead kisses. She loves to be (and nap) where the action is, and she will throw herself down in the middle of the room or the top of the stairs to make sure you see her, pet her, and spend time with her wherever you might be.

She is affectionate and sweet, going so far as to groom you after you've spent time scratching her head and chin and slow-blinking at you with great love. Mousa doesn't seem to mind being picked up, but even when she'd rather stay put, at most, she'll give a resigned "meow" and let you take her wherever she needs to go.

While Mousa isn't a lap cat, she loves to sit near her people, especially in any easy chair.

Mousa is a pretty low-energy cat, though she enjoys the occasional play session! Mousa is a little overweight and will need help keeping up an active lifestyle. She is currently fed three times a day, and she LOVES meal time.

Mousa naps for a lot of the day, but her most active periods are mornings and evenings. She will lovingly greet whoever is up first in the morning, as she is SO excited to spend time with her people after eight long hours separated by sleep.

Mousa is currently living with three adults human "roommates" in a two-story house. Her "room" is upstairs, and she spends time on both levels hanging out with her humans. She is not a match for a home with other cats or dogs.

She is very patient and loves pets, so she will probably do well in a home with people who can pay some attention to her when walking by, clean her litter box daily, and let her be her sweet, sleepy self. From what we've experienced, a high-energy, frenetic house might not be the place for her.

Poor Mousa is very obese right now! Mousa was demand feeding in her original home, from what we can tell, and we believe she was eating "people food" as well. At her most recent vet visit, she weighed a whopping 21.5 pounds! Because of her weight, Mousa's legs seem to hurt, but she doesn't have arthritis from what the vet saw. Her weight also makes it impossible for her to adequately clean herself right now (especially her back end), so she needs some assistance in that department temporarily. However, she's good-natured about it all and appreciates the assistance! The current vet plan is to drop 2 pounds per month until she reaches 14 pounds, at which point she will need to be reassessed.

Mousa is a wonderful lady. Anyone who gets to adopt her will be fortunate, and she'll be very missed by her foster family!

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate.

Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.

All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption.
