Meet Motor

Motor is a 5-year-old, sweet, confident boy looking for his forever home!

Motor is nearly the perfect cat with his moderate temperament. He does not have the high maintenance energy of a kitten, but has his playful side and will fairly readily engage with toys. He is happy hanging out in his cat bed, by a window, or on a cat tree, but is just as likely to snuggle close to his humans, purring away and enjoying their company, without being overly needy. One of his foster family's favorite things is his signature double meow. When they come into the room, walk over to give him pets, or bring him food, he will often greet them with this "mrowrow". He's one of the most friendly and confident kitties they've ever met, even at the vet where he will explore the room and rub against any available legs in greeting. He also doesn't mind being picked up for a bit and carried, but only with his legs supported--he doesn't like to have his feet dangle!

Motor enjoys naps and exploring equally. He is a curious boy who will calmly check out his environment from day one and greet new people. When he's feeling feisty, he may playfully nip at your hands but doesn't bite. He loves to sharpen his claws occasionally and will scratch where he can, so it's good to have plenty of options near furniture (you may need to redirect him at times). He is curious and likes to jump up to see what's going on, whether on the couch, counter, or cat tree. He doesn't actively knock things over but is a big boy who has a very long, sturdy tail so occasionally things get hit by accident! He also loves pets and can be approached nearly any time. He will seek out his humans' multiple times per day for affection but will also quietly lie next to you if you're working or busy. He is a perfect companion for someone working from home or who spends a lot of time at home.

Motor is fed half of his dry food in the mid morning and half in the evening, with a wet food snack mid afternoon. He doesn't need a ton of exercise, but a couple of play sessions a day will do him good, as well as having a cat tree around to climb.

Motor was surrendered for food-motivated behavioral issues. Since arriving at his foster's home, this behavior has resolved completely. It's suspected that something - possibly another pet in his environment - was stressing him and may have been eating his food. He was previously underweight but is now right where he should be at 14 lbs.

He lives with two adults, a calm baby, and part time with a 6-year-old who's very respectful of animals. He does great with everyone, although he doesn't always realize where the baby is and sometimes thinks flailing limbs are playing/toys (no injuries, just something they keep an eye on). He was also slowly introduced to their young resident cat, who is kind of his annoying little brother that he tolerates but isn't a huge fan of. While his fosters haven't seen food-motivated behavior, they do recommend continuing to use slow/puzzle feeders or timed feeders to spread Motor's meals throughout the day.

Motor will do well in most homes where he isn't alone all day. He can tolerate other cats but would probably be happiest in a home without dogs. He seems to do fairly well with children but has had limited time with them.

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate.

Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.

All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped.
