Mononoke's Story
Mononoke is one of the Ghibli kittens, who were all named for Studio Ghibli movies. They were brought into Animal House Rescue when they were just one week old. All of them are on the smaller side, taking after their Mom, Sasha, who is only 7.5 lbs.

Mononoke is a torbie, a tortoiseshell tabby. She has a lot of brown tabby markings with some orange spots mixed in. She loves to hang out in the top of the cat tree watching what's going on around her. While she is up there, she likes to start with back scritches and once she is feeling it will roll over and let you scritch her belly. She particularly loves to have her head, ears, and cheeks scratched. She will be slow to purr, but quite loud once she gets going. Despite being one of the biggest of the litter, she tends to hang at the back of the crowd. She has to work up her courage when it comes to doing new things.

Once she gets going, she loves to play, running and chasing with abandon. She loves playing with toy mice, springs, and feather teasers. She is litter box trained. She eats dry food.

Due to her timid nature, she has not warmed up to any of the resident cats, or the dogs. Although, as long as they ignore her, she doesn't mind when our pets are in the same room as her. With time and proper slow introductions she may warm up to others, as she loves scampering around with her siblings.

She is going to need someone with patience that will give her time to warm up to them without expecting an instantly cuddly cat. When she is overwhelmed she will run away, or if being held, give a warning growl that she has had enough. She still runs and hides when we enter the foster room, although she comes out once she knows it is us. A quieter house without small children would probably be best given how easily she startles, but older children should be fine.

She has been dewormed, flea treated, spayed and vaccinated as appropriate for her age. She is looking for a forever home.
