Monkey Domestic Short Hair New York, NY

Meet 6 year old torbie Monkey, looking for a forever home after her owner could not take her when he was moving. Monkey is absolutely a beautiful, healthy girl, but needs a home that understands her unique needs. Monkey is friendly, but has her own boundaries and triggers, and can become defensive/ reactive when triggered. She is mostly upset by loud noises, other animals, and any sort of unexpected infringement on her personal space (like grabbing her while she is asleep) and may react with a hiss, swat, or growl.

Monkey's previous owner tried medicating her with cat prozac, which helped her relax. However, with our rescue, we have taken her off to get a baseline on her personality. We are looking for an owner who can continue working with her through her challenges and be there for her no matter what! Once she bonds with you, she is very affectionate and loving. It was very hard for her to be given up from the past owner but she has been able to connect with her foster family! She is already warming up and showing her personality.
