Meet MITTENS **Adoption Pending**
AGE: 2 years
DESCRIPTION: DSH - Gray & White
LOCATION: PETS Shelter (114 W Main Street) - Panora, IA
MY STORY:
One of our volunteers helped an elderly neighbor set up an outside shelter and feed a couple of semi-feral kittens after having them altered. Our volunteer provided her with the cat food to feed and watched over both the neighbor and the kitties. Unfortunately one of the kitties was killed by a predator but little Miss Mittens did well and became quite fond of her caretaker. She would come when called and would rub up against her to show her appreciation for being taken care of. The elderly neighbor knew Mittens would outlive her and our volunteer promised that she would make sure Mittens would be taken care of upon her passing. Sadly, that came to be sooner rather than later and we made a spot for Mittens at the shelter.
Not knowing what to expect, Mittens stared at us from her litterbox for the first few weeks. Slowly she began to accept the love and petting offered by the volunteers an started laying in her comfy soft bed. Once she figured out these humans were just like the caretaker she had lost, she began approaching them for attention and has now even progressed to sitting in their laps! We were thrilled that we are able to look for a good inside home for Mittens as a companion kitty and not match her up with a barn home. Although she may need a little extra time and patience to settle in to a new home, she will be a wonderful addition. She has done well with the other kitties and think she will do best in a quieter home. Mittens is as cute as can be and is best described as cobby - which describes her short little legs, compact body, and broad head. And just look at that adorable dark nose!
MORE DETAILS:
Inside-only home and must keep claws. The adoption fee for this kitty is $100. Adopt a pair of kitties for $150. Each cat and kitten has been: altered (spayed/neutered), vaccinated (age-appropriate) - rabies and distemper combo, microchipped, tested for FeLV (negative unless previously noted), and treated for fleas, ear mites, and worms.
We ask that interested parties fill out a cat adoption questionnaire. Please fill out the questionnaire only if you are seriously considering adopting this sweet kitty. You can get the application by going to our website at "http://www.panorapets.com/adopt"
and clicking on the "Cat Adoption Questionnaire" button at the top of the page. Once you have submitted the questionnaire, a volunteer adoption coordinator will contact you usually within 24 hours. Please be patient and thank you for your interest in this kitty.
Please note: Upon approval of the adoption questionnaire, we may request a home visit prior to completing the adoption.
P.E.T.S. supports the "Paws Need Claws" Campaign. Cats are rather attached to their claws; please do not de-claw your cats.
