Meet Miss Honey
This 5-years-young sweetheart was rescued as a tiny kitten by a family that loved her dearly but surrendered her to a shelter because of their own declining health. Sadly, the stresses of her environment combined with her sensitive personality brought on health issues for Miss Honey too and, when she reached our care, she was overweight and suffering from a serious inflammation of her bladder which led to a diagnosis of feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD) and a history of bladder issues including crystals, cystitis and blood in her urine.
Her symptoms are now well managed through a combination of a predictable, unthreatening environment; a strict diet regiment (she's lost 3 pounds and needs to lose just a half pound more); an oral medication that she takes in her food, and a patient foster that's willing to respect her litter box preferences and accommodate her desire to control her own body.
Miss Honey would thrive as a beloved only cat, but is willing to share space with other friendly kitties or humans; she seems to be partial to males. She might be okay with well-behaved, older, cat-savvy kids. If required, she can tolerate a respectful dog, but would probably prefer not to. She will need a long, slow introduction to a new space or new humans and, if you are willing to be patient and let her set the pace, you will be rewarded with a uniquely personal relationship with a wonderfully personable calico queen kitty.
Miss Honey has been tested for feline leukemia and FIV (negative), spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, has had a complete dental, and includes a free wellness vet visit with our vet partners. To meet Miss Honey in foster, submit an adoption application for consideration at CatRescues.org/Adopt or a paper copy available at the store. A volunteer will contact you within 3-5 days for a possible meet and greet. The $70 adoption fee allows us to continue to provide care and find loving homes for abandoned and neglected cats in our Eugene/Springfield community.
