Millie's Story

Millie is a 6.5-year old female domestic shorthair who found her way to BCHS after her family could no longer care for her. Understandably, Millie is a little stand off-ish and needs a family who is patient and embraces her Miss Independent personality. Since arriving in March of 2025, Millie has come around to making friends with a few staff members and is slowly but surely coming out of her shell each day. Right now, Millie is not a lap cat and would prefer to lounge around and watch the birds from a nice cat perch or cozy windowsill. We know Millie's furever family is out there and will give her the time and space to blossom! Butler County Humane Society's Adoption Policy
Our adoption process is quite thorough. We require potential adopters to fill out an application. This application includes listing if they rent or own their home, we verify that they either own or have permission to adopt from landlord they rent from. We require all current animals in the house to be up to date on all required vaccinations and spayed/neutered prior to adopting from us. They must provide a veterinary reference if they have owned an animal in the past 5 yrs so we can verify they were not negligent pet parents. We also require two references (must not live in same household, and only 1 can be a family member). We conduct dog intro's here at the facility to ensure our animals are going home to a welcome environment. Sometimes multiple visits are needed. We also ask them if they have any topics they are concerned about or need more information about.
