Meet Mia
3-year-old sweet and sassy companion looking for her forever home!
This pretty girl has many sides to her. Sometimes she's a quiet and calm lap buddy, then she's a leaping acrobat chasing balls and feather toys around. She has a unique raspy meow and can be very chatty - she will let you know exactly what is on her mind and likes to be talked to.
At other times, she just purrs and purrs contentedly. She has a bold personality but initially, she can be a bit reserved. Overall, she takes some time to warm up and then she is a total sweetie.
Mia loves looking out the window, playing "fetch" with toys, and getting comfy on a lap. She allows herself to be picked up, but she doesn’t love being held, preferring to snuggle up with her people on a lap or nearby on her own terms.
When she's alone she tends to curl up on a favorite piece of furniture or a windowsill. When people are around, she likes to interact with them - chatting, playing, exploring. She can have surprising bursts of energy - when she plays hard, she doesn't always watch her surroundings, so a safe open area (free of furniture and knickknacks) for her to run and play would ideal!
Mia is currently in a foster home with 2 adults and one resident cat. She lives in the lower level to keep her separate from our cat. She has been generally satisfied with this arrangement, as the lovely Miss Mia prefers to be the center of the universe—the only animal in the house.
Mia would thrive in a home with no other pets and one or two adults that she can bond with. She doesn't mind having a smaller living area, so could be an excellent apartment or condo cat. She doesn't get agitated when left alone and loves to get settled on a lap for a long session of petting, grooming, or napping.
Mia's human should be familiar with general cat body language, as Mia occasionally nips by accident when overexcited. However, this behavior seems to lessen the more comfortable she gets in her home, so a bit of compassion and patience will go a long way.
Sadly, sweet Mia was declawed by her previous household in April 2023. She often favors her right paw, and sometimes holds it up and avoids using it after playing hard. This may be a lingering effect from her declawing or maybe a muscle strain; her new people will need to work with their vet for a pain management plan. Despite her declawing, Mia uses the litter box like a champ. A softer litter (such as a corn-based litter) will make this experience nicer for her.
Initially, she had crystals in her urine when she arrived in foster, possibly due to the stress of a new home. It has now cleared up, but a Urinary specialty food should be part of her diet (can be mixed with regular food). Some of this food will be provided at the time of adoption.
Mia would be an ideal cat for a young professional - she provides wonderful companionship without asking for much in return. She has had a bit of a tumultuous time in her previous home, so is very ready to find a peaceful, loving home. Could that be with you?
