MEET MECHANIC!

MUST LOVE HUGS! If there is one thing in this world that Mechanic needs, it is a person (or family) who loves to get hugs. No, seriously. A person that LOVES to get hugs. From a cat. A REALLY BIG cat. A REALLY BIG cat who loves to rub his face all over your face. This is not a joke. Mechanic loves love and if you are squeamish about having cat spit on your cheeks then Mechanic is NOT the cat for you.

Mechanic is thought to be about sixteen, but according to his bloodwork and playful nature, it is possible he is several years younger. He was surrendered to the shelter when his owner was no longer able to care for him and quickly found himself slated for euthanasia due to a really awful mouth full of infection. “I Love Hugs” was written on his shelter paperwork and that was all it took for his foster mom to decide to bring this lug home. Once in foster care, Mechanic showed his foster family all about the “I Love Hugs” note…when he is picked up, he puts his huge mitts around his foster parents’ neck and rubs his mouth all over their faces.

Years of neglect took a toll on this big potato. Chronic ear infections have left him with very little hearing and a tremendously loud meow! Even with a thorough dental, he is still a boy with stinky breath…it is just who he is. He spends most of his day snoozing on the bed, but he does get very playful with the other cats. He likes to carry nerf balls around in his mouth and then lay on them so no one else can steal them. He gained a bit of weight since coming into foster care because he is quite the cat burglar when it comes to food. With other cats around in foster care, there is always a plate of food to steal so he will need to go on a diet in his future forever home.

Mechanic loves to crawl up on the couch and snuggle up with his foster parents. Mechanic does have ongoing needs that his future family should be aware of. Due to his chronic ear infections, he does need ear cleanings on a regular schedule. He is hard of hearing so you will have to wake him for meals if he isn’t already in your arms giving you love. He also has chronic folliculitis on his chin that requires cleaning. It isn’t his favorite activity, but he’s a pretty good sport about it.
