Meet Mary Lou
Mary Lou is a sweet girl who is on the lookout for her forever home. She came to us from Multnomah County Animal Services after she was turned in as a stray. We don't know her story so far, but want to turn the rest of her life story into a fairy tale!
Mary Lou was born with Hypoplasia which is a neurological disorder that makes it difficult for her to walk and causes involuntary movements. This is often caused by the mother cat having a viral infection while pregnant and results in what is knows as "wobbly cat syndrome". Although she has this condition, she is perfectly healthy in every other aspect.
We can assure you that even though it is difficult for Mary Lou to move around normally, she can certainly get around the house. She will need a home with no stairs and some carpeted floors are a must, although she does have fun sliding around on slippery floors to play! She cannot jump so getting up on counters and scratching things is not possible for her. She uses the litter box perfectly although it takes her a while due to her lack of coordination.
Mary Low wants nothing more than to be with her people. You don't have to be holding her (although that is a bonus), as long as you are in the room she is so happy. She would do well as a companion/support cat who would go everywhere you go. She will not do well if her person is gone a lot and leaves her behind. She needs to be with her family.
