Meet Marty - Adopted

Marty: Born ~2015, M, Lilac Point Ragdoll

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is helping facilitate the adoption of this cat through our Owner Placement Program. We take no responsibility for the health and medical records of this cat. It is the responsibility of the owner and adopter to discuss this. If you believe you are the perfect adopter for Marty, please contact our Owner Placement Program Coordinator by email: cheemers@gmail.com or call/text at 541-290-8408. Please note that Marty is not in a Purebreds Plus cat Rescue foster home, but residing with his/her current owner in Castro Valley Ca. Adoption fee applies.

A shy and gentle cat, guessed by the veterinarian to be about 5+ years young. The Vet Tech adored him as he looked up into her eyes while enjoying gentle nose rubs. Marty is seeking a quiet home where he can be inside, safe and loved.

We don't know what happened to upset his life, only that he showed up in a local back yard, so afraid and shut down that the couple who discovered him thought he was sick or injured. He was neither, instead appeared to be traumatized from being outside possibly for the first time in his life. He is named "Marty" in honor of the man who cared enough to find him a safe place until he is adopted into a really good home.

Marty had no microchip and when the couple received no response to posting him on a pet lost & found website, they took him to the local shelter. At the end of his holding period, Marty was deemed too shy to be adoptable. The shelter was just too scary a place for him to show his real self. The couple was given the option of taking him back to save him from euthanasia, which of course they did. Unable to keep him themselves, they posted him on Nextdoor and a volunteer from a local cat rescue group took him into foster.

He was very shy, hiding under their couch. She reached out for him and experienced no resistance as she gently pulled him out. This frightened but mellow Ragdoll did not hiss, scratch, bite, or struggle to get away while he was retrieved from his 'safe' hiding place.

After several weeks in his foster home, Marty still likes his hidey holes, but is gaining in confidence. He is fine being picked up and is comfortable in a lap. His foster mom believes he will blossom to reveal his full wonderful self once he knows he is in a safe loving home. Although he still remains cautious, he is responsive to touch, softly purrs and is happy to see his foster. Marty is very soft pawed as the reaches out to touch for more petting.

He has no issues with other cats, we're not sure if he is familiar with dogs. We believe he should do fine with other cat friendly cats and possibly a cat friendly non aggressive dog. He should also do well with gentle, kind, respectful children more than 4 feet tall.

Do Marty's beautiful blue eyes speak to you? Can you be loving and patient with him as he rebuilds his trust and confidence? If so, this may be just the mellow Ragdoll fellow that is meant to be yours. Standard Adoption fee of $175 applies.

Marty is neutered, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, microchipped, eats wet and dry food, and is litterbox perfect.

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish their pet and create an ideal forever home.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone's best interests!

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue (purebredsplus.org), serving Northern California, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Northern Nevada, is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of purebred cats, kittens and other exceptional felines. We are a 501 (c)3 non-profit rescue group. Most of our beautiful felines come from Northern California Animal Shelters. One of our goals is to keep purebred cats from ever ending up in a shelter. We are happy to help you if you need to rehome your purebred cat. Often, we can offer advice if your cat is having behavioral problems, and you may end up keeping the cat. We do NOT ship cats. We will place cats out of area but you must arrange to come and meet your new friend in person.
