Meet Martini

This stunning boy is Martini, who literally saved his own life by walking into a trap during a TNR project in Queens. It quickly became apparent that he was a friendly house cat that had been dumped in a feral colony.

Martini is about 5 1/2 years old, is neutered, vaccinated, has tested double negative for FELV/FIV and internal parasites and is microchipped.
He is super sweet, cuddly, playful and is a mellow couch potato with zero aggression. He loves attention and is extremely gentle with children at adoption events. He has yet to meet a person he does not like! Martini must be your one and only as he does not tolerate other cats.

Upon trapping, Martini was diagnosed with FIP. He has been successfully treated for this virus with an antiviral drug that is a cousin to remdesivir. Research conducted by UC Davis Professor Emeritus Niels Pedersen uncovered several promising treatments for this disease, including an antiviral drug GS-441524 that metabolizes to remdesivir in cats and has been found to be safe and efficacious in treating cats with natural occurring FIP. While this drug is currently undergoing clinical trials at the University of California Davis, it has already been approved for use and is saving cats in the UK and Australia.
