Lucy's Story

Lucy has been on quite a journey—a weight loss journey! She came to us in early June because she was so overweight she could not groom herself. Her family helped her lose about 5 pounds, but were unable to get her where she needed to be—Lucy still had a ways to go!

She has been in two foster homes, who helped her get her steps in, and after 6-months of work Lucy is now able to groom herself! She may need a little help here and there with some wipes, but she is finally able to do most of the hard work herself.

Lucy is a 3-year-old super-sweet cat who loves to be brushed, to chase the laser pointer, and sit in the window looking out.

Since Lucy has been the only pet in the home, she will likely prefer that set up again. With her diet, it would also be tricky to track her calories with other pets around.

She is genuinely such a nice cat and truly deserves to finish her weight loss journey in a loving home!

We do NOT respond to PetFinder inquires; we only respond to emails sent to adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org regarding adoption inquires.

We never know how quickly a pet will be adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in a pet but want to see them during our shelter open hours prior to filling out an application, we strongly recommend that you email us at adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org before visiting the shelter to ensure they are still there.

Open hours are Wednesdays 1:30-6pm, and Saturdays and Sundays 10am-2pm for you to come view our adoptable pets. You can apply for animal at the shelter during our open hours or online by emailing adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org and asking for an application. Adoption fees allow our non-profit to continue to help pets in need.

Meet and greets with animals are scheduled after applications have been processed and we’ve determined you are the best fit. We do not operate on a first come, first served basis.

Our Adoption Process Please note our adoption application process is not on a first come, first serve basis. When you first arrive at our shelter, you will be asked to fill out a brief survey, which helps us to find the right pet for you. Our adoption counselors act as “matchmakers” and will work with you to find the right match - for both you and the animal - based on the information you have given us. If you don't find a match right away, we will hold your survey on file for several months while you continue your search.
