Meet Lucifer

Lucifer (Lucy for short!) is a 2-year-old sweet boy looking for his forever home.

He was found as a stray and kept crated in the basement of a vet clinic for 2 months while waiting for a foster home. During this time, he completely shut down; he hid his face in his bed if anyone approached him and would completely freeze when being touched. He hid under the couch during his first week in the house, and over the next few months would only come out at night to play with the resident cats. Eventually, the resident cats helped show him that humans are pretty cool too, they do this thing called "forehead scritches" which are AWESOME.

It took a long time for this little guy's personality to come out, but now he is truly the sweetest, gentlest little soul who just wants love and affection (and treats!). The whole 7 months he has been in his foster home he has never bitten or scratched a human or animal, even when he's scared. While playing, he keeps his claws put away and has never been mouthy. When he's done with pets or playing he will simply walk away or push your hand with his paw. He's shy but warms up quickly with new people if the environment is quiet and calm, otherwise, he can be a bit skittish.

One quirk that stands out is that he knows how to open cabinet doors. If the house gets too busy or loud, he goes to his favorite cupboard to hide. He's still not sure how he feels about being held, but he can be briefly carried if needed. He asks for pets by head-butting your hand, and he LOVES belly rubs!

He is a professional bug catcher, no fly or spider is safe around this guy. When he's not busy saving the house from bugs, he's an avid bird and chipmunk watcher from his window perch. Other hobbies include using his scratching post, sitting on the human's desk while she's working, and asking the resident cat for cuddles He has medium-low energy, and he's content with exploring the home with the resident cat, using his climbing/scratching post, and occasional laser pointer games.

The current foster home is a quiet duplex with occasional guests. One human, one dog, and one resident cat. He would do best in a quiet home with at least one other cat and lots of hiding and/or climbing spaces. He has pretty severe anxiety when it comes to being put in a carrier and would need an owner that can administer anxiety medication for vet visits.

He has been around a total of 3 neutered male cats and made a noticeable effort to make friends with all of them. He loves cuddling, grooming, and playing with his cat friends! He's respectful of boundaries and seems to understand which cats don't like socializing.

He has successfully cohabitated with a 1.5-year-old pitbull mix, but he's not a huge fan of the energy and play style. He will growl/hiss and sometimes swat if she runs towards him, but he has never scratched or bitten her. He has been caught napping next to her on the floor recently, so very hopeful that he would do well with a low-energy adult dog. It is unknown how he does around children.

Please consider adding this playful, spunky boy to your home!
