I’m a handsome silver tabby with a silky fur coat and beautiful markings. My white double-breasted jacket with silver buttons stretches down my torso. My eyes are an exotic topaz, so perhaps my ancestors were companions of the Pharaohs.
Are you a cat whisperer ready for a challenge to help me progress with my socialization?
I was born outside to a feral mother in June and was put into foster care with 2 brothers, who were adopted out in Sept. Because I’ve been in the foster care system and moved around I struggle with transition and trust issues. Once I settle down in a stable environment and feel safe with my new family I'm sure to mellow out.
I enjoy being petted and prefer company to being alone. My caregivers believe I have great potential to be an excellent companion and lap cat. The family and home I need to become my best self is a family that is going to be very patient with me. An ideal household would be experienced cat owners who are well versed in cat body language. I would do well with a family of quiet adults or older teens and another young cat to be my playmate would be a plus.
My dark silver tabby markings are dazzling. The necklaces around my chest match the bracelets on my forearms and the silver rings that run to the tip of my tail. My white chin matches my white eyeliner and white whiskers. My light gray boots with dark gray soles match my attire perfectly! I have supersized paws so either I'm going to grow into them and be a very big boy or an average size cat with big feet. Sometimes when I'm perplexed, I cock my head to the side, and my caregivers think it’s very cute and very endearing. Hopefully you will think so too and forgive my trespasses.
I’m an athletic boy who loves to bound through the air after any toys. Yes, I have lots of energy and am very healthy. I have a spring in my step and accelerate to a trot without thinking. I like to use my front paws to pick up my treats, knead and play with my toys. I’m curious and love to play and even play by myself if you don’t have time to play with me. I’m a tireless playmate and I'm always up to chasing the toy at the end of a string or wire. My teenage foster parent would play with me for hours late at night and she was always the one who got tired and needed to go to bed. I will follow you around the house curious about your activities and want to be part of the action. I love to be petted and when I feel safe, I get excited and purr loudly.
I’m a good eater and a faithful litter box user who has never had a single accident.
I'm not prone to chew or scratch things up though I do like to scratch my designated scratching post. I'm very curious and smart. I’m trainable and already know what “no” means and on one occasion demonstrated that I understood that retracting my claws is good behavior.
I need loving parents to help me understand what good behavior is and who are also patient with me when I make a mistake. I am easily spooked by noisy, fast-moving, humans. Being high-strung I sometimes confuse petting/attention as a threat. I become frightened, may lash out inappropriately and try to escape. When I see your hands, sometimes I want to reach out and engage with you in a playful way. I have yet to learn that my claws are sharp and can hurt you. One foster family had a cranky, old cat that growled and swatted at me though the kennel netting, but I was undeterred. I cooed and tried to convince that cat to be my friend and play with me. So far I’ve never been picked up and we’ll need to work on that together. I need to feel completely secure to be in your arms far off the ground.
When I see the plate of food, I talk and will jump up into a lap. The only time I let my foster parents pet me is when I’m eating a meal on a plate on their lap. By feeding me on your lap for several months, I’ll learn that you are a source of warmth and comfort, and the benefits of being a lap cat.
I yearn to be petted but worry that people are not safe. Everything is still all so new to me that I get over excited easily. At this point, I may put my ears back, give you the evil eye, and stay just out of reach. But I am learning to understand that an outreached hand is there to give me the attention that I crave. I know I’ll get there with lots of love and patience. Once I know you and your home are safe, I will be an excellent companion.
I am current on all my vaccinations, neutered, and have my own microchip. Are you up for the challenge to help me?
