Lilly was originally rescued as a kitten in Waterloo, Iowa by Waverly Pet Rescue back in October 2014. We fully vetted her and she was adopted in November 2014. They returned her to us July 8th, 2020. Lilly is up to date on shots, tested FeLV / FIV negative, and spayed. Her adopters declawed a couple of months after adoption so she also came back to us declawed.

Lilly is now about 6-1/2 years old as of January 2021. Being returned was very hard on Lilly. It took her several days to eat. She was upset and lashing out. She then become depressed. Now after a month she is settling in and doing better.

Lilly is a sweet girl. She likes to cuddle once she gets to know you. She loves to play with toys! She will even fetch! Lilly loves to play with water. If you are washing your hands, she wants to help. She does also make a water mess with her water bowl. She will bat it everywhere. So best to have that water bowl in a sink that doesn't get used very often or even the bathtub. I am also going to buy a large and long plastic tub and see how it goes with her bowl in there.

She needs a quiet home. She did not do well in her previous home after they had a baby and that baby became a toddler. She would become agitated and bite the toddler. So she does need a home with no children or grandchildren who visit. She would also be best in a home with no other cats and no dogs. She should be your only pet.

You will really have to watch her cues, if overstimulated she will bite. This could be from her humans using their hands as a toy when she was a kitten. Or even from her declaw.

Lilly had litter box issues in her previous home. One time she did have a UTI and that was treated. She started peeing around the house again and that is when her adopters returned her. We had our vet test her for a UTI when we got her back, she does not have one. It could be due to the toddler in the home, or from her declaw. Please stop decawing cats. We are feeding her Science Diet CD stress formula right now. So far so good and she is using the litter box all the time.

Lilly's adoption fee is $95.00.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $250 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
