There are several telltale signs you are a gangsta...You do what you must do on the streets to survive, avoid being caught, treat your lady well, enjoy a good meal, and dress to impress, and you are no rat!

Will you please welcome to your big house Lefty, our resident tuxedo Goodfella, he is "a friend of ours." He is just about 2 years old and the sweetest guy in town. Lefty was found outdoors with a ruptured eye and was taken to Scruffy Paws for some much-needed medical attention. We tried to find out who or what caused his eye to rupture, but like a true gangsta...Lefty wouldn't talk. He met his match with Dr. Rauch, and she helped give Lefty a new outlook on life. This handsome boy LOVES attention but seems to get overstimulated in his cage. We think he is bored. He is ready to have a whole house to play, nap, and play some more! And eat! Lefty is motivated by meal time. We are unsure how he will be with other cats, sometimes, he hisses, and other times Lefty looks as if he is trying to play through his cage. He will do best in a home with older children. Lefty has had a rough start to life, but just as Frank Sinatra once sang...the best is yet to come, the day you're mine...

All adoption fees include spay/neuter surgery, microchip, rabies, and distemper vaccinations, proof of FIV/feline leukemia testing, flea treatment, deworming, and an exam by a licensed veterinarian.

Our shelter hours are by appointment only and are not open to the public. Many of our cats and kittens are located in foster homes. An adoption application MUST be submitted and approved before meeting our cats/kittens. We do this for the safety of our fosters and potential adopters.

Our adoption process includes the following:

1. Adoption Application
To be considered for this cat(s) or kitten(s), you MUST complete an adoption application:
- Through our website (preferred) at www.scruffypawsanimalrescue.org/
- Email a copy to scruffypawsanimalrescue@gmail.com
- Drop off a hard copy to either of our partner PetSmart locations (Johnston or North Smithfield)
- Mail a hard copy to Scruffy Paws Animal Rescue at 2944 Post Rd. Warwick, RI 02886

2. Veterinary Reference
Please call your vet ahead of time to give permission to release records to our adoption team. Out-of-state adoptions typically require an exceptional veterinary reference and are at the discretion of our adoption team.

3. Proof of Home Ownership OR Landlord Approval
If renting, the landlord's contact information must be provided so our adoption team can seek approval.

4. Home Visit
Please make sure you are located in our vicinity. We are based out of Warwick, RI. Due to COVID-19, we are currently doing virtual home visits until further notice.


**Please note: Our volunteers try their hardest to contact every applicant in a timely manner but are often overwhelmed with a high volume of applications.
