Meet Koda

Koda is a roughly 4-year-old, polydactyl boy looking for his forever home!

Koda is so sweet and easy going it's hard not to love him. He does best with people or cat buddies around most of the time, and whines when he's lonely or has to be separated (although he isn't too awfully loud). After less than two weeks, he likes to follow his foster mom around the house, preferring to lie close by. He isn't a lap cat (yet ... they think he could learn to love it more), but he absolutely loves to rub against your legs and get lots of pets and scritches especially. There is no place off limits to petting so far, although rubbing his belly sometimes initiates play time and you might get a bunny kick or playful nip. He is usually gentle, and when playing with his foster fur brother never plays too hard.

He doesn't love getting picked up but also won't fight too hard, and is fairly tolerant. His fosters think that with a little practice getting him used to it he might enjoy being held a bit in time, and same with holding him in your lap. He likes to climb so they're working with him on counter and table etiquette, which his adopter will want to keep in mind, but he's pretty responsive when given firm vocal correction. He also has extra toes on his forelimbs!

Koda loves to play with other cats, follow his humans around, and get lots of pets. He enjoys napping, chasing ping pong balls, playing with toys (especially the wand/dancer toys), and just being comfortable inside. He was likely owned before winding up a stray (he had harness marks when found) but seems to much prefer being safe indoors. He seems to have had some rough times, especially outside--don't expect he will want to walk or spend much time in a yard or want to wear a harness (he has shown fear when taken outdoors). Koda is just a gentle panther boy, waiting for a home where he'll be surrounded by love and safety.

Koda is a big boy at 14.5 lb, but has an ideal body type. He free feeds healthily, so scheduled feedings are optional for the adopter. If he has an active cat buddy in the home, he'll likely get plenty of exercise during play, but will happily interact with toys as well. He doesn't have any specific exercise needs, but most cats do enjoy play on a regular basis to keep them happy and content.

Koda is living in a house with two adults, an infant, and part-time with a six-year-old. He is relaxed and friendly with everyone in the home, including the energetic 1.5-year-old resident cat and any visitors. He very quickly acclimated to the new surroundings but had to be kept sequestered to recover from his neuter surgery. He would likely be at ease if given a few days to acclimate in a small space. He's interested in any other cats around, showing no fear or aggression, although prior to neuter he reportedly escalated an encounter with another cat reacting to him aggressively. It is unknown if this would happen post-neuter, but careful introductions are always prudent.

Koda's ideal home will be one where his humans are home often, and he has other cat buddies to keep him company. He likes to climb a bit, so cat trees or perches are a plus as well.

He's a pretty easy-going boy, with no known ongoing medical needs.

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate.

Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.

All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption.
