Grab your tissues for this one, folks. Kat's mom was one of our volunteers here at the shelter when she was diagnosed with cancer. She entrusted us with Kat's care during her treatment but unfortunately she didn't survive her battle. We lost a dedicated friend and Kat lost her mom. Adopting Kat to another forever home has been problematic though. She has a thyroid condition so when people hear this they pass - either they don't want to 'deal with it' or they think it's expensive. The cost of the pill she takes twice a day is about $.12 a pill (it's $.23 if you want the coated version), so it's not super expensive. She requires testing every six months or so to make sure her levels are where they should be. Kat was with us at the LaPlaisance Road location and made the trip to N. Dixie Hwy. What we really want for this sweet girl (and her mom who passed) is a forever home with a family that will love her the rest of her days. Kat is a gray/white ragdoll-ish beauty who's 11 years young and still full of spunk. She's good with dogs so if any dog lovers are looking for an older cat who needs a good home, she's certainly worth checking out. She's friendly and absolutely gorgeous.
