Meet Julia

Julia is the daughter of our cat Petra, and the last of her four littermates left at the shelter. Petra was found as a pregnant stray and taken into a home so she could give birth, and Julia spent her earliest months growing up there with her three siblings. Once she was old enough to be weaned, Julia and her family came to Pet Placement Center for help finding a home.

Upon going to get spayed, the vet detected a heart murmur in Julia. She was sent for an echocardiogram to ensure she was healthy, and it was discovered that she has a congenital septal defect in her heart–what that means is, she has a hole in her heart as a result of a birth defect. This condition is inoperable and cannot be cured, meaning that she has special needs. Ideally, Julia should be monitored and have access to routine vet care should she need it. This birth defect has the potential to shorten Julia’s life, but it could just as easily have no significant impact and allow her to lead a full life.

Just by looking at Julia, you’d never know she has a heart condition. This torbie kitten is obsessed with feather-on-a-stick toys, and will perform acrobatic stunts in her efforts to catch them. The shelter staff refer to her as a “psychic” of sorts, based on her behavior when she’s picked up; Julia loves to be held and give people “readings.” When she looks into your eyes, you get the sense that she’s perceiving something behind them. Julia will even gently put her paws on your face while she stares into your soul. This perceptive torbie has a wise air about her when she settles down, but quickly perks up and runs amok at the sight of a feather. Julia needs a special and attentive home, but she will gladly repay that home with much love and wisdom!
