Meet Jiji - Pending Adoption

Jiji is a 2-year-old outgoing, confident and affectionate cat looking for a forever home with space to roam, dogs to torture and someone to play wand and laser light tag with him.

Jiji makes friends easily and adapts well to new situations. He has excellent dog training skills and gets along well with them. Jiji is smart and knows to use his scratch pad, how to get along with humans and that he is only allowed on the table when no one is watching. He is a typical cat and cuddles on his own terms. He will be nearby but not always on your lap.

He likes to climb, explore and monitor household activities. An avid bird and bug watcher, Jiji enjoys large windows, excursions outside and is great in the car. He loves playing with things that interact with him (springs, dogs, people waving wand toys). Regular balls are a bit boring for this young cat.

Jiji is ready to join the family as soon as we get up in the morning. He is at his most affectionate in the morning, rubbing against everyone, including the dog. A bit of food, a bit of play, and then some birdwatching make up his regular routine. He does require a good solid afternoon nap in his own room, no dogs allowed. Jiji needs space to roam and is not a good apartment cat. He is not high energy when he has activity around him; if bored, he can get into trouble.

Jiji has the roam of a split-level ranch with one dog and 3 adults. He has his own room and enjoys moving from window to window and room to room.

Jiji needs a relatively busy household to keep him from being bored. He would do best with children (over 4yo) and other animals. He has been raised with dogs and is big enough to take care of himself but is gentle with them. He would probably do fine with other cats with slow introductions.

Jiji has been diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This is not affecting him. He needs to watch his weight, be on a low-sodium diet and exercise regularly. He also needs to have a yearly echocardiogram.

Jiji is not a good patient at the vet but he does need regular visits for vaccinations and to have his heart checked. He does have sedatives that help him relax for those appointments. His teeth have been cleaned, his heart has been checked and he is fully vaccinated so he does not need anything done at this time. He is primarily on moist food and a low-sodium diet.

Jiji comes when called and is not whiny about food or attention. He likes to be near the family but is fine if left on his own. He would do best with another cat, a dog or a human at home most of the time.
