Jack was a stray found in Waverly, Iowa, back in October 2019. He tested positive to Feline Leukemia. We just re-tested him again on April 17th, 2010, and he again tested positive for Feline Leukemia. He can be adopted but only into a home with no other cats, or a home that already has a Feline Leukemia positive kitty. Jack is up to date on shots, tested FIV negative, neutered, and FeLV positive.

Jack is now about 11 months old as of April 2020. He started off very skittish but has warmed up to is foster mom really well. He still is shy at times, loud noises scare him but all in all he is friendly and can be really loving. Jack is a talker and tells me all the time what he is thinking. Especially if it is time to eat. Jack loves to eat! He enjoys playing and is an active kitty. He will let me hold him but not for long. He would rather be off running and exploring. He should do ok with older kind children. He has not been around dogs.

Here is info on FeLV (Feline Leukemia): http://www.wittykitties.org/id19.html

It is possible Jack will live a full life. It is also possible he will get sick and pass away within 3 years. His adopter will need to be prepared for that. And know for love you are willing to give Jack a forever home, no matter how long or short that may be.

Jack's adoption fee is $50.00.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $250 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
