Meet JACK!

MEET JACK!

Life can be unpredictable. In an instant, everything you knew and the people you trusted can just disappear. In one night, 13 year old Jack lost his owner, his home, his cat family, and all of the things that made him feel safe. Luckily, City of Elderly Love was happy to take him under their wing and help him recover from a traumatic time in his life.

During his first weeks in foster care, Jack was incredibly shy and scared. He only came out to explore after his foster parents went to sleep and the world was quiet. In the morning, when everyone woke up, he’d burrow under the covers and spend the day in his blanket fort, away from everything unfamiliar and scary.

We knew that Jack had been a social guy before his world turned upside-down so it broke our hearts to see him so shut down. We had seen the photos that his owner had posted: Jack crawling in the fridge to eat corn on the cob, Jack laying by the door with his frog legs splayed behind him, Jack playing in boxes with his cat friends, Jack standing on the kitchen counter demanding treats. It was just going to take some time for that version of Jack to reappear.

Now that he’s settled, Jack’s confidence has been growing! After being kept separate for a few weeks to allow his confidence to grow, he has finally joined the rest of the cat crew! The past two weeks have been nothing short of amazing. Jack now shares breakfast and dinner time with the other cats. Catnip and feather toys have also created a positive atmosphere for playing and hanging out with the other cats. As it turns out, Jack is a bit of a catnip fiend so his future family should keep PLENTY on hand!! Jack likes to follow his foster parents around chirping for attention. He is still a shy guy and sometimes will duck away from fast moving hands, but he absolutely loves to be petted. He also does enjoy a good game of chase with some of the feistier cats in the house!

Jack previously lived with cats and lives with them now in foster care; he likely would do fine in a home with or without other cats. His future family should keep in mind that Jack has been through a really tough time. He is going to need some understanding as he continues to gain confidence and adjust to his new life.

Jack is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. He is a healthy thirteen-year-old dude who is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Interested in making Jack a part of your family?
