Meet Irene
Irene was found living on the street with her kittens. They were all trapped and brought to us. At first we were convinced Irene was completely feral, but as time went by she seemed to calm down a bit.
Irene has now been with us for 1.5 years and chances are that she will not get any friendlier at the shelter. She has come as far as she is going to with us.
If you talk to her very softly and approach slowly Irene will not run away, but she does avert her eyes, and prefers some space between herself and the human.
Irene will need a very quiet, fairly small home where she can relax, and hopefully gain some trust. She will need a human that has no expectations of her and will just let her be.
Irene is about 3 or 4 years old so in the right environment she may still come around, but we cannot promise that.
Irene would appreciate a feline companion, especially a confident one that would hopefully teach her that not all humans are bad.
