Meet Ira
IRA is a special cat who needs a special adopter!
If you are patient & committed and can give him a good home, Ira will return the love!!
Ira is a sweet, friendly guy who loves being around people. He will happily sleep on your belly or nuzzle up on your arm. If you're sitting down, he will definitely be looking to sit in your lap. Ira has a very polite and pleasant meow and becomes more talkative the better you know him. Although he was rescued from an apartment where someone left him behind, this has not shaken his trust in humans. Ira loves to get chin and head scratches and will sometimes ask for more if you stop. Ira is a big fan of string toys and stuffed toys that have catnip inside (specifically carrot shaped ones, for some reason!).
We have posted Ira as special needs because he has been diagnosed with IBD which requires a special diet cat food to keep his stomach feeling settled. He is also taking a steroid called prednisolone to help this condition, and he will need this medication always. In addition he takes probiotics, and a B12 supplement. With the dedication of our veterinarian, and a great foster, he is stable and happy in his stomach. While there was nothing definitive found other than the suspected IBD, the vets have told us that it is possible that he might have something more going on, possibly a slow progressing cancer. A confirmation of that would require a major exploratory surgery, which was not advised.
Thank you for considering a rescued cat!
He's about 5 years old and is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. Just a fantastic kitty all around!
