Meet Honey Butter

Southern comfort food has met their match with his oversized portion of Honey Butter! Originally found stray and brought into a shelter in southern NJ, Honey Butter recently slid his way over to PAWS to finish the search for anyone missing one last ingredient in their family recipe. He can be a little shy and nervous at first, but after a little adjustment period and some tasty meals he starts working on his epic hallway stare downs until you come to offer him attention, and showing off his top tier elevator butt once he gets those pets! So, when he isn't enjoying a relaxing sunbath you'll likely feel those warm yet judgmental eyes glaring a hole through the back of your head if you dare to ignore him.

Honey Butter has had the unfortunate hand dealt to him of being positive for both FIV and FeLV (more info below), so while he is double positive for those we are quadruple sure that he is deserving of all the love and devotion you have to spare and, officially, triple-dog dare you to share your home with him! He should be the only cat in the home for now, just to give him a chance to adjust and settle in, and you could consult with your vet about adding additional cats in the future if that is in the cards (and assuming the new pets would also be positive for FeLV). Honey Butter should also get some dental work in the near future to clean up some tartar and anything else that might be needed.

**Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) is a virus that is specific to cats that weakens a cat's immune system. Cats with FeLV can live normal, happy, healthy lives-but with a shorter life expectancy than cats without FeLV. At PAWS, we believe every pet deserves to live out their life in a loving home for whatever time they have. We hope you'll consider opening your home to this special kitty! For more information feel free to check out the FeLV FAQs we have available on our website!**

**FIV is specific to the feline species, and is not transmissible to dogs, humans, or any other animals. It is spread from cat to cat via mating or deep puncture bite wounds. Thankfully, all our cats are spayed or neutered so mating is no longer an option! Since FIV does not spread through casual contact like grooming, sneezing, and food/litter sharing, FIV+ cats can live with other cats that have tested negative as long as the cats get along without fighting.**
