Meet HOCUS POCUS!

MEET HOCUS POCUS!

This gorgeous tabby was found as a stray in Philadelphia, very thin and obviously hungry. She was brought to animal control for immediate care and joined City of Elderly Love not too long after! Now that Hocus Pocus (or Pokes as we call her) has gotten the necessary vet care and has recovered from her time as a stray, she's looking to adorn the back of your couch or sunniest of windows!

Pokes is likely 10+ years old. She's a petite little thing with the best eyeliner markings and big galaxy eyes! She loves to lay in your lap and receive back and head scritches and will use her paw to gently tap on you to let you know she'd like some pets. However, when she's done receiving pets she's pretty clear in letting you know she's had enough, sometimes with a swat, sometimes with a nip. She's also a bit sensitive around having her paws and tail touched. We do believe this will subside more and more as she settles into her new home and becomes comfortable with her people. But because of this, we think she'd be happiest in a home without kids. Pokes is currently in foster care where she is living with other cats and a dog with a room dedicated just for her. She isn't a huge fan of the other cats in the home and isn't afraid to let them know she'd like them to back up. She doesn't mind the dog so much but he is quiet and respectful of her space. She'd also be more than happy to be an only pet!

Hocus Pocus has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism which isn't uncommon in senior cats and explains her body condition upon entering the shelter. Hyperthyroidism is easy to manage with a daily medication that can either be given transdermally or be by pill which is how Pokes takes her; wrapped in a pill pocket or simply added to some wet food. She's great about taking her meds. In fact, she loves meal times and will chat your ear off when she knows her food is coming!

Hocus Pocus is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She is also FIV/FeLV negative. Interested in adopting her? Visit cityofelderlylove.org to complete an online adoption questionnaire or email us at info@cityofelderlylove.org!
