Hera Bengal & Abyssinian Mix Lyons, IL

Hera is gorgeous with her fluffy fur and round head. Her inquisitive eyes follow you around and she is always there to check out what you're doing.

Hera was found outside by a Humane Society and shortly after she gave birth to kittens. She took such great care of them that after they were adopted the shelter placed another litter of orphaned kittens in her care. She got them all taken care of and raised yet another litter of orphans.
Once she was done the shelter placed her on the euthanasia list because she is shy... So very sad.

Lucky for her someone contacted us and we had to help her out.

Hera was physically hit by someone in her past. This left her very timid around hands moving towards her. She will come and head but you. Sniff your hair and your face. But no hands please... the moving hands get her running to safety.
We feel that if she is given love and time she will overcome this fear.

With us just placing a cat in an unknown situation quite a few cats get super anxious and decide to hide and observe the new place and family from relative safety. To help the cat accept you and develop a loving bond, you would need to put in some effort, loving care, and patience. We think that Hera will adjust in 6 to 9 weeks. You would need to keep him in one small room (preferably your bedroom) and spend time just sitting, talking or even singing to her.
