Helen's Story
This sweet kitty was rescued from the Las Cruces shelter. The shelter reached out to other rescues, who normally take kittens, but they all refused to take poor Helen because the shelter believed that Helen was deaf. Even though we are a senior cat rescue, we decided to take Helen because we don’t believe that kittens should die just because they are deaf.

When we got her, we noticed she was very wobbly. A visit to our vet revealed that Helen has Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH). CH or wobbly cat syndrome is a neurological disorder that causes sudden jerky movement, uncoordinated motion, and loss of balance. CH kitties if they remain indoors, can live long lives.

In Helen’s case she has a mild case of CH. It comes out in new situations, like when going to the vet or when she goes to her new home. It can also be noticed when she is eating. Helen uses the litter box just fine and doesn’t have any accidents. It’s best to keep CH kitties from climbing on high perches as they can easily lose their balance and fall.

Helen is a wonderful, loving kitten. She is a female orange tabby which is rare since most are male. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. She gets along with other cats and dogs. She will play with other cats, but she really likes people the best and would love to be in a home where she can be given lots of attention and the love from her person. I promise you she will return it 10-fold. It would also be best if she goes to a home experienced with CH cats.

Please reach out to us with any questions about Helen or our adoption process.
