Meet Heathcliff
Mister Heathcliff is the chillest cat you will ever lay eyes on!!! In regards to his “special needs” He is FIV positive.
FIV is the acronym for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. This is nothing to be scared of, as long as you follow up with your veterinarian.
FIV is species specific. It stays within the feline family. FIV can ONLY be transmitted via bite wounds from one cat to another cat.
Heathcliff was badly beaten up by a feral cat. That mean bully of a cat bit Heathcliff numerous times, and now Heathcliff has been infected.
FIV positive cats can live a very long and happy life. Because their immune system is compromised, they need to be fed a good quality food; and they should always remain an indoor cat.
If an FIV Positive cat is exposed to extreme temperature changes, injuries, or unvaccinated animals, they will become sick. By keeping an FIV positive cat indoors, vaccinated, and yearly Vet checks….. this cat can live a very long and happy life!
