Meet Hazel
Hazel was dumped in a public park- her rescuer saw it happen but had to choose between seizing Hazel and pursuing the criminals.
She chose Hazel, who could not possibly survive outside. At that point Hazel weighed 4.5 pounds.
Blood work indicated fatty liver disease brought on by malnutrition. That has now been resolved and Hazel has gained 2 pounds in less than 2 months. Not a big cat, she could nevertheless use another pound or two.
Hazel is an unusual orange female, domestic short hair, approximately 4 years old.
Her body is bright orange, her face slightly darker making her look as though she has a dirty face. Brilliant green eyes.
This is a very affectionate cat, mild mannered cat but, understandably, initially rather cautious. After being starved (literally) and abandoned, she was completely terrified at the vets. And totally overwhelmed at her rescuer’s house where there are several other cats and 6 dogs, which is why she came to HART.
In a calmer and unthreatening situation, she is much more relaxed, although still easily startled.
She likes to be petted and to sleep on the bed, where she purrs up a storm.
Hazel will probably do best in a quiet household, possibly as the only pet.
All HART kittens and cats are vet checked, combo tested, spayed or neutered, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, and on flea and tick preventative.
If you are interested in any of our kitties, you must complete an online cat adoption application available at www.rescueahart.org/adopt/cat-application. The application will put you in touch with a HART volunteer. Thanks!
